How the phone marks your attendance
The institute has an area drawn around it. When you walk in, your phone tells the institute you are there; when you leave, it says that too. You do not have to open the app every day — it is set up once, and the six screens below are that once.
Open the app and go to Attendance
More → Attendance
Android asks about location — say yes twice
First: While using the app
Choose “Allow all the time”
Settings → Location → Allow all the time
Wait for your institute to approve the phone
The institute approves it once
That is all — it now works on its own
Nothing to tap, every day
Two things that stop it working
What it looks like when something is wrong
Questions people ask
Is the institute watching where I go?
No. The phone only says when you cross into the institute area and when you cross out of it. Nowhere else you go is sent, and there is no map of your day.
Does it use my data or battery?
Very little. There is no map running and no constant GPS — Android tells the app about the two crossings, and each one is a few hundred bytes.
My in or out time is a minute or two off.
That is Android deciding you have really crossed rather than passing the gate. A minute or two is normal.
The time was hours late.
That happens when the phone was asleep or the app was stopped by battery saver, so Android told us much later. The institute sees that the report was late and can correct the day.
I forgot to open the app for days.
That is fine — it keeps working with the app closed. Only a phone RESTART needs the app opened once afterwards.
I changed my phone.
Register the new one the same way. Your institute approves it and the old one stops counting.
